The Society was founded in 1950 by Frank Potter.  Its central activity is an Annual Exhibition. Other exhibitions of a specialised nature are also held, some of which take place outside the Borough.

The aim of the Society, through a federation of local artists, is to promote interest in the fine and applied arts. Various social meetings take place including discussions upon subjects relating to art. Outdoor painting sessions and an indoor life class are held regularly to which all members are invited.

Full membership is open to professional artists, architects and craftsmen through election, after submission of work to the Society. Art students may become members on a similar basis, though with restricted privileges and contributing a smaller subscription. Associate membership is open to all who are interested in the Arts but who are not necessarily practising artists. They are represented on the Committee and are invited to attend meetings, private viewings and social events. They may submit one work for selection for the possible inclusion in the Annual Exhibition.

All members are welcome to the Life Drawing sessions, held in the upper room of the Quaker Meeting Halls, Reigate Road, Reigate, Surrey, on Monday evenings 7-9 pm. For details please contact Margaret Connaughton 01737 243146, or the Hon. Secretary, Judith Davis on 01737 763735 for all other matters.
